A guide to help you complete your fafsa
Your FAFSA is Submitted,
Now What?
Confirmation:
What to be aware of now that you finished:
Student Aid Report (sar):
This is not the exact financial aid package that you will be receiving. Until your FAFSA is formally reviewed, this is just an estimate as the final offer will depend on your school.
The SAR will be sent to you via email within 3-5 days of completion, or 7-10 days via post. Review this document to ensure that all of your information is correct.
Each school indicated on the FAFSA will be given access to your information 1 day after it is processed.
Make Corrections:
If necessary, corrections can be made to your FAFSA- but not right away. It usually takes about 3 days for the FAFSA to be processed. Once this happens, you can log back into the site to make any corrections.
Verification:
You may be asked to verify some piece of information following your submission. If so, you are not being accused of providing false information- some are randomly asked and some schools verify every FASFA.
All you have to do is provide any requested documentation- but be sure to do so by any deadline specified in the request.
Financial Aid Package:
Your official financial aid award will be sent to you from each school indicated on your FAFSA. If you are deciding on a college to attend, review the offers to see which is willing to provide you with the most aid.
Once you choose a school, you will have to formally accept the offer through the school's financial aid office by their deadline.
Expected Family Contribution (efc):
The Expected Family Contribution is just an estimated amount of assistance you will be given from family.

This amount is not a legal obligation that your family is held to contribute. It is only one factor taken into account when determining how much aid you are eligible for.
I didn't get much aid, NOW WHAT?!?
